The great Clint Eastwood is 80, and still making films. At this rate, he'll still be making them for a long time to come. For his next film, he's taking on the life of one of the most controversial figures in 20th Century America. J. Edgar Hoover, the first director and founder of the FBI. His complex and long life is perfect material for Eastwood, who is making it as J. Edgar, which will see him team up with a good cast and an ideal lead for this film.
Leonardo DiCaprio will play Hoover, and it will follow him throughout his life, how he came to be founder of the FBI, how his methods were described as controversial. His relationship with his mother Ann-Marie (Judi Dench), and also his private life as a secret homosexual, and an alleged affair he had with with his partner Clyde Tolson (Armie Hammer, off The Social Network), while Hoover's secretary Helen Gandy (Naomi Watts) was able to keep her boss from getting done by the government.
It's a prestigious film about a controversial figure, and there is no better director than Clint Eastwood to take on this project. In terms of tone and structure, I imagine this being like Changeling (2008), as it'll be set around the same time as this. Hoover is a complex man, but it's certainly a life worthy of a film adaptation. Here's Leo as Hoover when he was younger!!
J. Edgar is due out later this year, and I can imagine it being a big Oscar contender, but it's daring to be ruthless when it comes to the matter of Hoover's homosexuality. The film is written by Oscar-winner Dustin Lance Black, off Milk (2008), but in Eastwood's hands, it will be a powerful and engaging drama, and he knows how to tell stories. He's got a great cast, and it'll be one of his best, and let's hope Clint makes films when he's 100!!

Should be good!
But I'm waiting for Eastwood's film about Neil Armstrong. I'm sure I heard he was doing that.

That was back in 2003, since then he won more Oscars and made more films. Either he's forgotten about it or he doesn't want a repeat performance of Space Cowboys.
