Post links to some of your favourite ever film scenes!

How could I start a thread like this without posting something LOTR-related? Very Happy This actually wasn't the scene I had planned for, but I couldn't find the bit on Youtube. This is just as good though

It's hard to say why I like it so much really. As the culmination of Helm's Deep it just seems to work. Aragorn and Theoden uniting in one last desperate charge, the choir singing "Shadowfax" in Elvish as Gandalf appears, and then the charge downhill as the sunlight blinds the Uruk-Hai, all the while Howard Shore's score mixing aspects from his Nature, Fellowship and Gandalf themes. It's just perfect.

Something much, much older now, but just as close to my heart. Laurel and Hardy in their classic western comedy, Way Out West.

In truth, for anyone who hasn't haboured a love for this pair since childhood, it might be hard to see what's so special. Nevertheless, I can't watch this clip without having the biggest, stupidest grin possible on my face. This is actually the first scene I ever remember laughing out loud at and for all it's simplicity, it still works its magic almost 25 years later.

Another classic 30s film now, the wonderful screwball comedy Bringing Up Baby. Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn are two of the greatest stars the world has ever seen, and their onscreen partnership works wonders here. This clip is historically important for one of the first uses of the word gay. I just find it very funny.

And last one for now, forget Bullitt, forget The French Connection, forget Ronin, this is the finest vehicular chase in history! Very Happy

From Sergio Leone's masterpiece The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, the Ecstasy Of Gold sequence. Surely one of the finest pieces of film music ever written.

Great choice, Silver! Without a doubt, one of the trilogies finest moments, and one of the best marriages of music and image in cinema. When that Gondor theme kicks in, pure magic!

Another modern fantasy trilogy now, bit not nearly as loved (except by me perhaps). Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End. The Up is Down sequence. Completely absurd and idiotic, but I love it to bits, especially the insane way that Jack Sparrow starts running. The music is excellent as well, one of the best bits from the trilogy.

Just because Woody's expression in this bit makes me laugh out loud every single time I see it...which is rare for me! & it's my fave Pixar film still (sorry Gimli!!)

Great clips above...I really enjoyed watching them, and makes me want to see them all again! Particularly Bringing up Baby which I haven't seen in years!

No need to apologie Maddy, it's a superb film!

Good choices all, I'm in the mood for The Truman Show now.

Fantastic! Great film and I love the music in the scene.

Another oldie from me now. I've never understood the love for the Marx Brothers. Compared to others from the time such as Laurel and Hardy, Charlie Chaplin and Buser Keaton, they just aren't as funny. However, they do have some very entertaining musical sequences, often provided by Chicho Marx on the piono.

Great clip...I haven't seen any of the Marx brothers films! No Your mention of other comedy greats at the time reminded me of this (used to watch it constantly!):

That was great but Benny and Joon is a film that I've never seen for some reason. I must seek it out.

The best song from any musical in the best musical sequence of all time. It also happens to be the best musical of all time. What could it be? Well, it features a talking clock and singing beer steins! Very Happy

Time for some Hitchcock and a fairly obvious choice from one of his masterpieces, North By Northwest, Cary Grant and the cropduster!

That's a great scene, I especially like Del Toro's delivery. Trouble is, I can never watch it without being reminded of the Mr Bean episode in which he's called in to help with a line up.

As I've been listening to the soundtrack, one of of my favourite scenes from This Is Spinal Tap.

I find Duel to be one of Spielberg's most "can watch it again & again" movies. It's just great! Very Happy

To restore my faith in comedy I present: A shrubbery!!
