PostSubject: World War Z   Mon Aug 15, 2011 11:00 pm

Seeing as it's now filming and there's a bit of buzz, here's a thread to discuss it. Based on the 2006 novel World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War, by Max Brooks (son of Mel Brooks and Anne Bancroft). This zombie horror story is being brought to the big screen by Marc Forster (Finding Neverland, The Kite Runner and Quantum of Solace). Brad Pitt is starring in the film and producing it too.

The film focuses on a worldwide zombie epidemic, countries have fallen because of it, destroyed each other and quarantines and the like aren't working. UN employee Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt) is on a mission against time to stop the spread of zombies. Think 28 Days Later on a larger scale.

Filming started in Malta in July, and they're gonna be filming in Glasgow this month, as it's doubling for post-apocalyptic Philadelphia!! Surprised Very Happy It shouldn't be too hard to make Glasgow look like Philadelphia... *resists temptation to make jokes about Glasgow looking post-apocalyptic anyways* Razz But, for fans of the book, be warned, It looks like the makers have taken liberties with the original source material... Neutral

Anyone up for this one?? Or will it just be another zombie film like all the rest of them. With Marc Forster on board, it adds a level of prestige to the proceedings, he's made alot of very classy films in his time. I haven't read the book yet, but if they're reportedly changing so much for the film version, will it be worth it?? Neutral

I like the traditional style of Zombie films but WWZ took a brilliantly new viewpoint. I can't see the point in making such changes.

I'm not sure, it''d be quite difficult to achieve but surely not impossible. As it is, it sounds like it's just a zombie film like any other. We'll have to see!

Unless they have a few ideas to single it out from all the rest.

Aye, that's be good.

I'd love to see a film of The Zombie Survival Guide, maybe done as some kind of training video.

Hmm, maybe done with a District 9 sort of look might work.
