Well, it's been on ice for a few weeks, but it's gaining momentum again. Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer (alarm bells ringing) are doing a new version of The Lone Ranger. He first appeared on WXYZ radio in Detroit, Michigan on January 30th 1933, and the adventures of the titular Texas Ranger and his Indian Companion Tonto caught on, which was followed by a film serial and TV series, but the craze died off, especially with the 1981 film, The Legend of the Lone Ranger, which was a huge flop. But, Disney and Bruckheimer are looking for a revival of this old property. With Gore Verbinski directing, The Lone Ranger is all set for a new lease of life for today's generation.

Not much is known of the films plot yet although Jerry Bruckheimer calls it "the story of Don Quixote, but told by Sancho Panza", Armie Hammer (off The Social Network and J. Edgar) will play the role of The Lone Ranger while Johnny Depp will play Tonto. Razz And the rest of the cast will include Helena Bonham Carter, Barry Pepper and Dwight Yoakam.

Hi-Ho Silver, AWAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!

Anyone fussed about this, but if you ask me, it's just an excuse for Bruckheimer, Verbinski and Depp to work together again after Pirates of the Carribean. However, this was stalled when Disney backed off after the film was budgeted at $250 million, but the budget has been slashed and they're moving forwards with it, looking to start filming in January or February 2013.
