| After taking on the western his way in Django Unchained (2012), Quentin Tarantino is once again taking on westerns for his next film. It's one QT nearly didn't do when the script was leaked. However, after a live reading of the script with the potential cast back in April, it looks like it's back on. The Hateful Eight, looks to be violent and nasty as the title suggests, even though we all know where he ripped it off from. Oh, Quentin!! Set during a snowy winter on board a stagecoach and a haberdashery, which has a group of characters pitted against each other, including 2 bounty hunters, a Union General, a Southern general, a mysterious man called John Ruth, an alleged hangman, a Frenchman named Bob and a cowboy named Joe Gage. The plot sounds vaguely familiar to Reservoir Dogs, and it looks like QT is dialing it back, stripping everything back to the bare basics. But he's got together a good cast, mostly consisting of old friends. Including Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Walton Goggins, James Remar, Amber Tamblyn and Bruce Dern!! Plus, QT is filming it in 70mm Super CinemaScope!! He won't go digital, QT is flying the flag for old film formats!! It's coming out in 2015, with an eye on Oscar season in December. Say what you will about Tarantino, you have to admire his passion and love for films. He might nick ideas from films he loves, but it's a nice way of getting people interested in films, and giving them a new lease of life. But, making a western with Django Unchained was a passion project for Tarantino, as he loves the westerns of Peckinpah, Leone, Corbucci and Casteralli, here it looks like a more sparse film, but it sounds good. A focused and violent character piece, and there might be room for a comeback or two in the film. | |

| Django was QTs best film, so I'm happy to see another western from him.
