| Henry Selick, once a Disney animator, and friends with Tim Burton, made a name for himself by directing The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), then made a (slight) leap into live-action, but still using stop-motion with James and the Giant Peach (1996). Then, just when it seemed he could do no wrong, he made an $80 million flop, Monkeybone (2001). This nearly killed his career, but it didn't, he soon found acclaim for creating the unique underwater scenes in Wes Anderson's The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004). Now, he's returned to the big screen with an adaptation of Neil Gaiman's children's book Coraline. A horror film for the family!! Pitched as "An Animated Ghost Story", Coraline is a young girl living in an appartment in a strange house with weird tenants upstairs and downstairs, her parents don't really seem to pay that much attention to her. She discovers a door with a bricked-up wall on the other side, but one day, the wall dissapears, and in it's place, a corridor, leading to another appartment, occupied by the Other Mother. The original book is a wonderful read, and on the big screen, it will look all the more weird and wonderful. What Selick has planned, is to shoot the scenes in the real world using CGI, and on the other side of the door in the Other World, to be done using stop motion. Plus, Selick has got together a good vocal cast. Dakota Fanning will be voicing Coraline, while Teri Hatcher will play the real Mother and the Other Mother. Plus, Ian McShane will be the voice of Mr. Bobinski, the giant Russian who lives upstairs, while comediennes Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders will be voicing Miss Spink and Miss Forcible (respectively), who live downstairs. A Poster for Coraline designed by Henry Selick!! TEASER TRAILER!! & SNEAK PEAK!! This should be fun, a children's film with a difference!! Selick is a great choice to do this film, plus he's got the same animation team, (Laika Entertainment), who did Corpse Bride, to do this!! Plus, the popular music group They Might Be Giants are doing the score, including songs!! Focus Features are releasing the film, and have it aimed for a release in the UK on March 27th 2009, though it's released in America in December, in time for Oscar consideration. Either way, Gaiman's work is coming to life in the best way possible!!

| Looking good! I love that animation style and previous such efforts have been great. I must be one of the few who liked Monkeybone | |

| Well, it opened in America this weekend to ABSOLUTELY glowing reviews, and good opening weekend to the tune of $16 million. Seeing as this film cost $35 million to make, I can see this breaking-even quickly. | |

| The new Empire magazine gave this 5 stars and said that it's Selick's best film, bettering even Nightmare Before Christmas! | |

I saw that!! Surely it can't be better than Nightmare!? I thought that would be an impossible task, but I want to see it NOW!! (America got it back in Early February, we have to wait until May. Why!? ) | |
