Tol'able David is generally considered to be one of the great classics of silent cinema, directed by Henry King and starring Richard Barthelmess in the title role. It deserves its reputation. It's a beautiful film.

Beauty and the Beast (2017): glossy, "Disneyfied" version of the classic story. The 1991 animated film was better, however Jean Cocteau's 1946 film remains the only truly magical version, and the most faithful to its source. 2.5/5

Going by the reviews, and the fact that it stars a couple of my favourite actors, I'll certainly be seeing it.
(Although, why an actress would make a deliberate decision to name herself after smelly French cheese is beyond me.)
