Seeing as it's now filming and there's a bit of buzz, here's a thread to discuss it. Based on the 2006 novel
World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War, by Max Brooks (son of Mel Brooks and Anne Bancroft). This zombie horror story is being brought to the big screen by Marc Forster (Finding Neverland, The Kite Runner and Quantum of Solace). Brad Pitt is starring in the film and producing it too.
The film focuses on a worldwide zombie epidemic, countries have fallen because of it, destroyed each other and quarantines and the like aren't working. UN employee Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt) is on a mission against time to stop the spread of zombies. Think 28 Days Later on a larger scale.
Filming started in Malta in July, and they're gonna be filming in Glasgow this month, as it's doubling for post-apocalyptic Philadelphia!!
It shouldn't be too hard to make Glasgow look like Philadelphia... *resists temptation to make jokes about Glasgow looking post-apocalyptic anyways*
But, for fans of the book, be warned, It looks like the makers have taken liberties with the original source material...
Anyone up for this one?? Or will it just be another zombie film like all the rest of them. With Marc Forster on board, it adds a level of prestige to the proceedings, he's made alot of very classy films in his time. I haven't read the book yet, but if they're reportedly changing so much for the film version, will it be worth it??
